Who is Lopa Speech Pathology?

My name is Gabrielle Lopa, and I am a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, member of Speech Pathology Australia, and professional musician. I offer a personalised and flexible mobile therapy service, aiming to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

I am fiercely passionate about delivering services that are affirming, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and centred around the person, their family, and community. I have lived and worked within diverse communities representing a wide range of identities, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and lived experiences. This has shaped my understanding that communication is deeply personal—it is influenced by who we are, where we come from, and what we’ve lived through.

My own experiences of navigating difference, growth, and healing inform my practice in meaningful ways. I understand that each person’s way of thinking, feeling, and expressing themselves is unique, and I am committed to supporting that individuality with sensitivity and respect. I often draw on both professional and personal insights when it helps others feel seen and understood.

I work alongside adults and children of all ages, with a particular passion for the voice—whether that’s finding it, strengthening it, or reconnecting with it after challenge or change.

Before becoming a speech pathologist, I had a 20-year career in the arts and entertainment industry, performing as a classical singer with State Opera South Australia and as a children’s entertainer with Ticklish Allsorts. I continue to work as a musician, educator, and vocal coach, offering creative and intuitive sessions that go beyond traditional singing lessons.

My musical and theatrical background led me to TUTTI Arts, a multi-arts organisation for artists with disability, where I coordinated and coached youth and adult performers. I’ve also taught at Splash Theatre Company, ACARTS, Pelican Productions, and community choirs across Adelaide, and facilitated African drumming workshops in schools and corporate settings.

Before founding Lopa Speech Pathology, I gained clinical experience in both regional South Australia and metropolitan Adelaide with The Benevolent Society, Good Prospects, and KUDOS Services. I continue to collaborate with allied health professionals—including occupational therapists, positive behaviour support practitioners, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and developmental educators—to deliver holistic, high-quality care.

My life is full, creative, and deeply connected to the communities I serve. I am continually learning, growing, and refining how I can support my clients to find their best ways to communicate—clinically, socially, and personally.
